Job Description:
Statement of purpose:

The Volunteer Onboarding Specialist provides a universal point of contact for all volunteer applicants to Tidewell Hospice and arranges volunteer services for Treasures Thrift Store. This position responds to inquiries, schedules fingerprinting if at a remote site (or refers to our Volunteer Services Coordinator at Lakewood Ranch), checks references, registers prospects for training, and obtains all initial paperwork prior to orientation classes.

Primary Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Promotes and practices the Hospice mission and core values, and follows all policies and procedures of Tidewell Hospice.
2. Provides an initial point of contact for all volunteer applicants and inquiries.
3. Oversees initial paperwork and compliance requirements for incoming volunteers.
4. Registers applicants for fingerprinting (if at a contracted site) and for orientation classes, in person and via Relias.
5. Performs data entry into the Volgistics database for new applicants, including paperwork and status updates.
6. Prescreens applicants via phone.
7. Oversees volunteer placements and orientations for Treasures Thrift Store.

Secondary Responsibilities:

Every incidental duty connected with this position cannot be specified in the job description and the colleague, at the discretion of the Manager of Volunteer Services, may be required to perform duties that are not included in this job description.

Educational/Professional:

1.High School Diploma
2.Experience working with volunteers

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

1. Good organizational skills.
2. Ability to work independently and as part of a team
3. Ability to communicate in a manner that provides excellent customer service to applicants.
4. Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Volgistics, Office Suite, and Hospice related software programs and keyboarding skills (35wpm).
5. Ability to communicate and establish effective working relationships.
6. Knowledgeable and able to speak comfortably regarding volunteer services, Tidewell/Stratum Services, and hospice care in general.
7. Possess a current Florida drivers’ license, state required auto insurance coverage, and reliable transportation.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the colleague is required to sit for long periods at a time; type using a computer keyboard; visually read information off of a computer monitor; orally communicate information over the telephone and in group settings; hear; and lift up to 20lbs. Specific vision abilities required by the job includes close vision and color vision.
